The “Council for Sustainable Development” is an association that brings together 120 leading international companies from 30 countries and 20 industrial sectors. The association has 24 national branches with 700 members from developing countries. The President of the Managing Board of Podravka and the former president of this association in Croatia, Darko Marinac, gave a presentation at the Zagreb International Fair entitled “Challenge of a regional business partnership for sustainability”. In his talk, he stressed the necessity for balanced development, which means that though we need economic growth, we must also take into account the ecological balance, and strive for social development. Here, regional co-operation, which draws on the mutual understanding, similar cultural backgrounds and the similar stage of development of the countries in the region, is extremely important since a regional approach offers us all better chances. Darko Marinac’s final message “Let us change as best we can”, was met with extensive approval at this international business forum.
